SGUL International Student's Society

Welcome to the St. George's ISS website!

Just a quick introduction to who we are and what we do - The ISS was formed by a group of enthusiastic George's students with the help of Dr. Jade Chow. We represent the international student community in St. George's, serving as an important medium between them and the university (as well as the Student's Union).

Like all George's students, we love our fun and so we organise numerous social events that are open to all. We also aim to promote cultural diversity with events that are marked with a distinct international flavour. On a more serious note, we are a society for one another and sees to the unique set of problems that concerns us international students. Issues like foreign employment  regulations, university exams and fee hikes are discussed.

About Us

Comprising just under a hundred foreign students from Jordan, Singapore, the middle east, South Africa, Canada, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong and more, we form a unique and diverse body.
As an international student at St Georges you are automatically a member of this society although this society and all its events are open to everyone who has an interest in other cultures!

The ISS committee works throughout the year to address the needs of foreign students and our general aims are:

1. To facilitate the integration of freshers into London's multicultural atmosphere as well into the busy life of being a medic!

2. Promoting cultural diversity at Georges through a variety of events hosted throughout the year

3. To keep members aware of new developments arising in the area of jobs and the postgraduate specialisation situation as it stands currently.

4. To keep all members updated on career decisions (e.g. USMLE's, practising in the USA/Australia and other countries once you qualify here). Career talks are currently being planned for the third term.

5. Last but not least, were a family for all those away from home, sad but true ! were all pretty approachable so be it problems with work, people or life in general, come meet us in our brilliant office and we'll do our best to help out!
